The Cargo Shed

Creative Arts

The turning of downtown Tauranga's forgotten area into a cultural and heritage attraction has become a reality after essential government funding from the Community Employment Group has now been secured. The Cargo Shed, situated in Dive Crescent the main egress route to and from Mt Maunganui along the waterfront from Tauranga central business district, is now in place to transform this part of the city into a cultural, heritage centre which local artists and organisations can use as a work location, for training opportunities and the display and sale of products.

The Cargo Shed provides an opportunity for emerging artists to get their work out into the community and the chance for the public to be exposed to different art works from the depth of talent in the area. It is also the opportunity for artists to test the market for their products and teach them the business skills to make a career out of their talents.

The Cargo Shed project is supported by the Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise, Tourism Bay Of Plenty, Creative Tauranga, Tauranga City Council and Chamber Of Commerce.

Quality arts of all kinds are on display and for sale.

The Cargo Shed will be closed from June 21 until beginning of August 2009
